PIckman's Apprentice Application

If you would like to compete in our annual Pickman's Apprentice live art competition, please fill out this form by August 1st. We will notify you by August 30th. Pickman's Apprentice is a live competition where several artists are given a subject and location. You'll have 90 minutes to complete an original work, and the audience votes decide who best captured the spirit of the challenge! Pieces are silent auctioned to benefit charitable organizations (in the past we have donated all proceeds to AnimalAid PDX, the Hispanic Foundation fund for Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief, and to the Hollywood Theatre's youth film programs).

This is how we will be contacting you.
This can be a link to your own website, or if you don't have one, a link to your portfolio, social media, etc. Anyplace on the web where someone (including us) can find out more about you and see examples of your art.
Use this space to list your art credits. If there is not enough room, list your most notable or most recent credits.
I acknowledge that if I am competing in Pickman's Apprentice, I will be available on Saturday between 12-6 pm. The awards presentation is on Sunday at 7 pm in the main theater, so it would be ideal if you were also available during that time!
We are considering doing a sculpting challenge this year! Please let us know if you work in

Being accepted as a participant at our festival effectively makes you a representative of the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival community. We may not always see eye to eye with everyone in it, but we advocate respectful discourse. Time and space is precious at the festival, so those we select will be paragons of the community who are interested in bringing it together, not sowers of discord. Attacking others, name calling, belittling, taking part in flame wars (even if you believe you're on the correct side), and other such childish behavior on social media is not how we want to represent ourselves to the world. Potential participants will share these values and be vetted in this regard. All participants and attendees are also subject to our Code of Conduct (you can read the entire thing here: http://hplfilmfestival.com/event-code-conduct )
