Join us for the big festival opening! A short musical performance by the Lovecraft-themed all-female Japanese band NECRONOMIDOL will be followed by a short keynote with Guest of Honor Chiaki J. Konaka, on the influence of the Cthulhu Mythos in Japanese horror and TV, including clips from Ultraman episodes penned by Konaka.  

Short Film Block 1 will begin immediately after this presentation.

They will perform a full set on Saturday evening, do not miss this once in a lifetime spectacular of sound and sight! Drawing inspiration from Lovecraft’s mythos, their unique sound and otherworldly sensibilities have earned them a global fan following.

It's the 7th Annual Lovecraft Under the Gun 72 Hour Film Contest screening! 3 Teams competed this year, to take a prop and line of dialogue and turn it into a Lovecraftian short film. Audience votes and our guest judge determine the winner! This has become a festival favorite, and seating is limited. We suggest you arrive early to secure your seat! Q&A with the competing teams follows the screening of their entries.
