From New Horizons:
Dear Aaron,
I am sorry to report that Roger will not be able to attend the Lovecraft Film Festival. Complications have assailed his latest project, and as a result, he will be out of the state filming for the month of September. He acknowledges the time you have spent helping arrange this event and regrets that he must now decline the invitation.

We will still show a 35mm print of "The Haunted Palace" starring Vincent Price.
The 2011 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival® in San Pedro will be the first to screen a newly restored 35mm print of "Berkeley Square" from 1933. Print courtesy of the Academy Film Archive.
Lovecraft liked the movie, and it inspired him to write "The Shadow Out of Time". The grandchildren of director Frank Lloyd will introduce and share their memorabilia of the picture, which was Lloyd's favorite. He also directed "Mutiny on the Bounty" with Clark Gable (Best Picture).
This movie was considered by many to be lost, except for a poor-quality bootleg that has been making the rounds of the internet. This will be the first time this print has been screened, and probably the first time the movie has shown anywhere in decades.
The HPLFF is proud to show a 1933 movie in a 1931 theater that was so inspiring to Lovecraft. Perhaps it will be inspiring to you?

We didn't want you to have to wait for more than a year for the festival to return in May of 2012, so we're having a special two night H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival September 30 - October 1, 2011.
Each evening will showcase an independent feature film and a block of the unique short films that you've come to love on the main screen of the spruced up Hollywood Theatre (we won't be using the two upstairs theaters). Seating is very limited, and both nights will feature different programming, so be sure to get a two-night ticket while they're available at a discount!
We're working hard to finalize the programming, and will announce the films (and guests!) as soon as we have the schedule worked out. As usual, there will also be a number of vendors and artisans with the finest in Cthulhiana for your shopping needs.
For those who are traveling and would like to stay in a hotel within walking distance of the theater, we've arranged for a special group rate at the Banfield Value Inn. Call 503.280.1400 and tell them you're coming for the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival to get the rate. If you're staying for two nights, the rate is only $57 + tax for a one bed room and $62 + tax for a two bed room. For a single night, a one bed room is $62 + tax, while a two bed room is $66.66 + tax.
The short films playing at the San Pedro 2011 festival, which will be seen and judged by Guillermo del Toro, are:
"Black Goat" by Joseph Nanni
"Call of Nature" by Rick Tillman
"Curse of Yig" by Paul von Stoetzel
"Idle Worship" by Theo Stefanski
"Pickman’s Model" by Michael Shlain
"The Raven" by Christopher Saphire
"The Ritual" by Will Wright
"Shadow of the Unnamable" by Sascha Renninger
"Static Aeons" by Gib Patterson
Thanks to all our entrants, it was very tough to program this block.
Stay tuned for the programming schedule for the 2011 Portland festival.
