F. Paul Wilson's novel The Keep was adapted for the big screen by Michael Mann. While visually captivating, and memorable, Mann's screenplay has been called "absurd, flawed, and occasionally transcendent," and "alarming and appalling," by critics and reviewers. We are showing it here in all its 80s synth glory, with the added bonus of Guest of Honor F. Paul Wilson who will introduce the movie, make remarks, and do Q&A afterwards.
Festival veteran Tim Uren (of Chuck and Dexter and Ghoulish Delights, performs his solo version of H.P. Lovecraft’s classic tale of horror, “The Rats in the Walls."
The story depicts the last heir to a cursed lineage who returns to his ancestral home in England. The sound of vermin leads him to explore this ancient priory and discover the truth about his family and himself. Lovecraft’s skills as a master of dread are on full display in this story and the ending is both shocking and heartbreaking.
