Lovecraft Under the Gun 72 Hour Film Competition took place September 18-21st. Teams completed an entire Lovecraftian short film in just 72 hours. All scripting, filming, editing, scoring, and in some cases - set building, took place within that 3 day period. All teams were required to use a line of dialogue and a specific prop in the film. During this block, the entries will screen and the audience will vote on a winner based on technical and creative criteria. You may never get another chance to see some of these films, so don't miss it!
Awards will be presented to the winners in these categories:
- Best Feature Film (with $1,000 cash prize)
- Best Short Film (with $500 cash prize)
- Best Adaptation
- Audience Choice
- Best Screenplay
- Pickman's Apprentice
- Lovecraft Under the Gun
- Special Founder's Award

The Secret Screening is a grab bag block of the zany, absurd, or awesomely bad. Audience participation encouraged for this parting shot as we close the book on another great year of fantastic film!

The Pulp Stage theatre company will be performing a world premiere adaptation of Alex Shvartsman's short story "Explaining Cthulhu To Grandma": When Sylvia gets Cthulhu on pawn, she thinks she's made a great score for her grandmother's shop. Grandma disagrees. Now Sylvia must find a way to sell the volatile god while making sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
Evan J. Peterson will perform a poetic diatribe of cyclopean proportion!
If you purchased your 3-day pass, either through Kickstarter or the Hollywood Theater's box office, you may come to Sam's Hollywood Billiards (1845 NE 41st Ave) and pick up your 3-day wristband or 3-day *Kickstarter Badge early! This is a great way to avoid the lineup at the theater on Friday evening.
Kickstarter Backers with 3-day passes will have early entry to the Theater on Friday from 6:00-6:15 pm. Doors will open for general entry at 6:15 pm.

We are joined this year by Special Guest Jeffrey Combs! Most Lovecraft fans know his as Herbert West, Star Trek fans know him as Weyoun, but he's also a classically trained actor, and very well suited to giving dramatic readings. During his college years, he was in two Shakespeare productions at Reed College, and Mr. Combs shared that he is excited to be coming back to Portland! On Friday at 9 pm, he will give a reading of "The Outsider".
