  • Panel Discussion: The Challenges of conveying Cosmic Horror in film

    Panel Topic: What are the challenges of putting cosmic horror on screen?  We often talk about Lovecraft as being hard to adapt to film because so much of what happens in the story happens inside the character's head. Modern filmmakers seem to be doing a pretty good job at putting this combination of psychological horror and cosmic revelation on the screen. Our panel of filmmakers will discuss how they approached this, what they think the key elements are, and who they think has done this very successfully.

    It's Sunday morning and the way we show our devotion is with a Carbload for Cthulhu! There will be donuts. There will be coffee. There will be entertainment!

    Authors Jeffrey Thomas and Polly Schattel will be reading their work. Dennis Paoli will be reading an excerpt from Stuart Gordon's memoir. If time allows, Festival co-director Gwen Callahan will conduct an informal interview with Dennis Paoli about his body of work, and experiences outside of Re-Animator!

  • Where the Shadows Feast

    Film

  • Dark Water Rising

    A determined researcher at the Insmouth Center for Marine Science uncovers a mysterious, glowing specimen linked to a doomed ship, the S.S. Fortuna. As she dives deeper into the investigation, the discovery of a regenerative, alien-like substance leads to dangerous consequences, blurring the line between scientific curiosity and cosmic horror.

  • The Wreckers

    A young man names Jacques, joins a group of wreckers in order to wreck and harvest a specific ship. But the night might take a stranger turn than expected and certainly not at all restful for any of our three protagonists.
