The 20th Anniversary H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival was a truly extraordinary experience. During the weekend, old friends reunited, new friends were made, and many, many films and programs were enjoyed! Much of it was captured by our favorite long-time photographer Todd Gardiner! To see the Galleries, visit Todd's website Heiroglyph Photography.
Our amazing sponsor, Rue Morgue has been the number one horror magazine for years, covering both popular horror and the independent and underground. That's what makes Rue Morgue and the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival so compatible! Their new November issue is a celebration of H. P. Lovecraft with tons of articles, art, movie reviews, and more relating to the Old Gent from Providence. It's a great issue that highlights many members of our community, including the art of Skinner, Nick "The Hat" Gucker, and Liv Rainey-Smith, with words by S. T. Joshi, Stephen Jones, Thomas Ligotti, shout outs to our own Cody Goodfellow, an article about adapting Lovecraft to film with Portland festival organizer Brian Callahan and noted film director Richard Stanley (Hardware, Mother of Toads, and the upcoming The Colour Out of Space). Get it at your newstand, bookstore, or at the Rue Morgue Web site.

Actor Jeffrey Combs will be joining us as a Special Guest for the 20th Anniversary H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival & CthulhuCon in Portland, OR, this October 2-4th! Combs has made numerous film and television appearances, but among Lovecraft fans, he is best known for his dry delivery and perfect comedic timing, bringing to life the beloved Herbert West in Stuart Gordon's horror classic film "Re-Animator." He was a guest at the very first H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival, and continues to be one of our most frequently requested guests, so we're extremely excited to announce that he'll be participating in this year's festival! Programming will include panels, dramatic readings, and Q&As, as well as an appearance at the Speakeasy VIP Party* on Thursday, October 1st, and a breakout session with 10 attendees chosen at random from Kickstarter backers at the Attend 3-Day, VIP Experience, or All Access levels*. Make sure you don't miss your chance to be part of the breakout session, and be sure to back the Kickstarter at one of the ticket package levels before it ends on August 6th!
*Only available through the Kickstarter which ends August 6th.
On Monday, July 6 2015, we launched the "Trip to R'lyeh" Kickstarter campaign for the 20th Anniversary H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, OR. Then, 37 hours later, it was funded. We are thrilled at the outpouring of support! This definitely helps us pay some of our most basic expenses, like theatre rental, but there's still a ways to go to make this the Best Festival Ever! Please share!
If you're coming to the festival, now is your chance to get Exclusive Ticket Packages that contain Miskatonic University Explorers Club T-shirts, lapel pins, and more (or, if you wanna go a little more EEEVIL, your package will include exclusive Cultist T-shirts and lapel pins). We're also offering special Speakeasy VIP Party tickets, where you can enjoy hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and mingle with some of our featured guests in a wonderful 1930s-style speakeasy.
Even if you aren't coming, there are tons of rewards that will take you to R'lyeh, including the Expedition Kit, featuring a 12x18 map of R'lyeh, compiled form aerial surveys of the island, a log book containing sketches from the island by some of our most artistic explorers, like Mike Dubisch, Paul Komoda, Heather Hudson, John Donald Carlucci, Nick gucker, and more, as well as diary entries from the team leader, equipment manifests, and more.
Whether you back the Kickstarter or not, please do one thing for us: share it with your friends through Facebook and Twitter (and anything else you've got going).
Are you going to Comic-Con? On Friday the 10th from 2-3 pm Let our panel of soon to be shunned scientists and loathsome literary scholars drop some serious knowledge on The Science Behind "At the Mountains of Madness". An ever expanding throng have thrown their lot in already, so sign up now and show up early to RM23ABC!
CthulhuCon PDX 2015 was amazing! Lovecraft" to "Dracula VS Cthulhu!" We've posted the first of these, "Neo-paganism and Lovecraft" in our YouTube channel today, with more to be posted in the coming days and weeks. Check out the panel playlist below - it's the perfect way to upgrade your Lovecraftian scholarship with our amazing panelists, including Kenneth Hite, Leslie Klinger, S. T. Joshi, Wilum Pugmire, Kevin McTurk, Leeman Kessler, Robin Laws, Adam Scott Glancy, and many more.
