A hypnotic extraterrestrial critter lands in the swimming pool of a family in crisis. They all finish becoming addicted to him, except the mother and head of household. She is the only one that seems to realize that the critter commits an outrage against the familial stability and will fight against it.

As the couple run for their lives, they make it as far as a a cottage in Devon, awaiting rescue to take them to France. With the end of their journey in sight, they finally allow themselves to believe they might have made it.
