Cave Necrophagoi in sepulchris is a faithful reproduction of a page taken from a rare 15th century Latin translation of the dreaded Necronomicon. The text reads in Latin and Greek, “Beware of Corpse Eaters in cemeteries.” Depicted are three ghouls exulting as they prepare to unearth a fresh shrouded corpse. Scholars believe this image to be a warning to inexperienced necromancers.
This limited edition woodcut print was conceived, carved, and printed by Liv Rainey-Smith on a 9 x 12 inch woodblock, & 11 x 14 inch cream Rives BFK paper. No deities, forbidden tomes, or dreamers were harmed in the making of this art.
