On Halloween night, a young man wakes up sweating from a nightmare. He decides to go for a walk to go back to sleep. On the way, he comes across an old decrepit video store run by a strange old man.

1944, Northern Italy. US Army Officer Howard Bailey is sent on a secret mission beyond the enemy lines in order to retrieve contact with Crawford, a local partisan leader and radical scientist gone off the radar weeks before.

At the end of his life, a writer recollects his visit to Beaumanoir, forty years earlier. The strange customs of the folks he met back then left him scared with an unspeakable burden. By telling his story, his hope is to exorcise his past and finally rest in peace.
